FoodLoop

Privacy Policy

Last updated: August 2026

Introduction

FoodLoop (“FoodLoop,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) helps people organize groceries, plan meals, save recipes, and collaborate with their households. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use and share it, and the choices available to you when you use the FoodLoop mobile application, website, and related services (collectively, the “Services”).

Information We Collect

We collect information you provide, information created as you use FoodLoop, and limited technical information needed to operate the Services. Depending on the features you use, this may include:

  • Account information, such as your name, email address, profile details, and authentication identifiers.
  • Grocery lists, meal plans, recipes, ingredients, notes, and other content you create or upload.
  • Household membership, invitations, and activity associated with shared lists or plans.
  • Purchase and subscription status. We do not receive or store your full payment-card details.
  • Device and usage information, such as device type, operating system, app version, language, crash data, diagnostics, and interactions with the Services.
  • Messages and information you send when you contact us for support or feedback.

How We Use Your Information

We use information to:

  • Provide, maintain, and improve the Services.
  • Create and manage accounts, households, shared lists, meal plans, recipes, and subscriptions.
  • Sync changes across devices and show updates to the people with whom you choose to collaborate.
  • Personalize features and, when requested, generate recipe or meal-planning suggestions.
  • Respond to support requests and send service-related notices.
  • Monitor reliability, prevent fraud or misuse, enforce our terms, and comply with legal obligations.

Shared Grocery Lists

When you join or create a household or shared list, the people you invite can see the list content and associated changes, including items, notes, checkoffs, and the identity or profile information connected with an action. People with access may be able to add, edit, copy, or delete shared content. Only invite people you trust, and avoid adding sensitive personal information to shared areas.

Recipes and User Content

You retain ownership of recipes and other content you submit. You give us permission to host, process, display, and share that content only as needed to provide and improve the Services and to make it available to collaborators you select. You are responsible for ensuring you have the right to upload and share your content. Content submitted to an AI-powered feature may be processed by the applicable AI service provider to produce the result you request.

Third-Party Services

We use service providers to operate certain features. They may process information on our behalf under their own terms and privacy policies. Our providers may include:

  • Firebase: for authentication, database, cloud storage, hosting, analytics, crash reporting, notifications, or other app infrastructure.
  • RevenueCat: for managing in-app purchases and subscription status. Apple or Google processes the underlying payment transaction.
  • OpenAI: if AI-assisted meal planning or recipe generation is available and you choose to use it, the prompts and relevant content needed to answer your request may be sent to OpenAI for processing.

We may also disclose information when required by law, to protect rights and safety, or as part of a merger, financing, acquisition, or sale of assets. We do not sell your personal information.

Data Storage

Information may be stored and processed in the countries where we or our service providers operate, which may have different data-protection laws than your country. We retain information for as long as needed to provide the Services, maintain legitimate business records, resolve disputes, enforce agreements, and meet legal obligations. Retention periods depend on the type of data and why it was collected.

Data Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect information. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. Keep your account credentials confidential and contact us if you believe your account has been compromised.

Account Deletion

You may request deletion of your FoodLoop account and associated personal information by using the account-deletion option in the app, if available, or by emailing us at foodloopapp@yahoo.com. We may ask you to verify your identity. Some information may be retained where required by law or for security, fraud prevention, dispute resolution, or other legitimate purposes. Content shared with other household members may remain visible to them after your account is deleted.

Children's Privacy

FoodLoop is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can take appropriate action. Where local law sets a higher minimum age for consenting to data processing, that higher age applies.

Changes to this Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as the Services or applicable laws change. We will post the revised policy here and update the “Last updated” date. If changes are material, we may provide additional notice through the app, by email, or by other appropriate means.
